   In 2020, Indonesia's production of areca nut reached a staggering 217,000 tons. The cultivation of areca nut spans approximately 147,890 hectares across the archipelago, with widespread cultivation in regions like Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara/Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Maluku/Papua.

   Each bunch of areca nut typically contains around 130 nuts. With an annual production cycle, the Betara variety of areca nut can yield 5-6 bunches, with each nut weighing approximately 47 grams, equivalent to 8.68 grams of dry seeds.

Export of Areca Nut from Indonesia 

  Indonesia emerges as one of the largest producers and exporters of areca nut globally. In 2020 alone, Indonesia exported 22.4 thousand tons of areca nut valued at 26.2 million US dollars. Areca nut exports from Indonesia find their way to various countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Singapore. These nations constitute significant markets for Indonesian areca nut due to their high demand for this raw material.
